High time to upgrade to a 4x4 Cube!

I'm a guy who is damn obsessed with the so called, Rubik's Cube invented in 1974 by the Hungarian architect, Erno Rubik! I tried a lot to explore the reasons why I go behind such a plastic material even if I find my hand not in a form to run through its faces while I rush in the hurry to give it a solution. Now, its time to fuel up my mind. I'm no more a kid to play with the 3x3 dummy cube for new-bie's. Its high time to try some megaminix - but, that will be a name too heavy to fill my mouth. So, I've decided to get a brand new 4x4 cube from the same store, where I had got my 3x3 piece yester year.

Now, I wonder at how people solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded. I thought: "Let me Google that for myself.". When my fingers went through the keyboard twice I found the answer. I found Pochmann to find a solution. I was in desperate need for a person who would help me do it blindfolded. An online video tutorial came to my rescue and that taught me how to solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded. I did not care to learn, because, there I found a lot of algorithms to memorize.

Recording the Timings using the Cube Timer, the other day I found my cube end up in a solved configuration in just 47 seconds which was my best over the days I had kicked the art of cubing.

Why didn't I go for GoDaddy.com?

Have I gone insane? Never, I guess! Couple of weeks back I registered for a domain name online. Firstly, I tried registering with GoDaddy - the DNS giant and after that I went for One.com. My attempts were in vain. But, Google came to my rescue introducing me to a different DNS provider. it is DynaDot.com.

Long ago, I had tweeted about a plastic cube and now I've got a brand new cube with which I while away hours and hours. The other day I just placed an order for a cube online via eBay.com. So, let me tell you a very interesting story!
There are many techies and geeks out here in Kerala and a number of passionate blogger's. I took it by surprise when I heard that there are many unconference's conducted for such guys and the rules they've brought down on their official website is cool too: Rules (Rules? :P)

The meetings or unconferences they conduct are called Bar Camp's. But, it is called the same in a number of places round the globe. Here, in Bar Camp Kerala or BCK is the camp for techie's, with no one to supervise, no one to listen, with everyone networking with their laptop as seen. If you wanna register with them, go online and complete the registration process and there you are! You'll be invited for the next bar camp. I could not take part in the last camp conducted at MACFAST. Are you married to technology? So, see you there at the venue for BCK9.

Searching for a lost mobile- a burning problem!

I lost my mobile yesterday. What to do? I think that it has got stolen. I wanna complaint and file an FIR in the local police station. But, i know that whatever i do will be in vain because the police pays no attention to such petty cases. Even you won't if you were one. We, just don't think about the heavy heart a guy like me will be having. If there are some online services available that won't be up and running for what purpose we want them to work for.
I tried raking the whole Google search widget. i found no websites or no articled related to this mobile lost case. There are many websites providing facilities to trace a SIM, but not a mobile. What a pathetic situation are we running through?
Everyone tell about the improvement in the technology. But, i have got to talk something about the distorted, technology of no-use. But...
The other day i heard about an app which enables us to trace out a lost mobile. It is a mobile tracking software as you know. That is what i want. If we install that software into our mobile you can trace it out where ever it is. But, i don't think that. That is what the owners claim but will avail to nothing. Well, today i will talk about the URL redirection. This can be used if you have got a very big link. For example, if you have a blog and if its name is thisisthemostboringblogintheworld.blogspot.com. This is indeed big and there is a bit of problem faced by the one who types this into their address bar. That is too big a task. I don't like it. First of all, it takes some time for me to type it(Just kidding! -I should have some reasons!). But, anyway i hate it. Do you? If you have the condition with your blog or your website. Then you can try these URL Redirection services provided by many websites like is.gd and notlong.com. These are just some websites. There are many more. They are too good and useful.

LinkX.in: I use it for many of my blogs. You know what? This is just one blog of mine. I have got many blogs, i use these services. I like it. Best internet connection for cheapskates!

Well, do you have an internet connection or do you surf from a cyber cafe? If you surf from a cyber cafe, it is high time to upgrade your PC by adding up an internet connection. So, are you guys searching for the best internet connection. Here is a study i have made on the leading ISP(Internet Service Provider's) and its offers. Lemme get on to speaking about BSNL Broadband connection first. First of all, let me tell you that i use BSNL Broadband. Do not feel that i am exaggerating because i felt that this plan is good in the broadband line in India. I use the 250 plan. I feel that the 500 plan is better than what i use but still, both of them has got its negatives. But, if we do not consider the negatives i can find that this is the best. There is another 125INR plan which is not upto scratch. You have got to pay more for less speed. But the only problem i have with this plan is that, if the bandwidth limit go beyond 1gB, then the rate at which the price increases cannot be predicted. I dunno on what basis they calculate the money after that. They don't give a clue indeed. I have asked the official for stipulations about the price for each MB used after crossing the monthly limit(I often cross them. LoL! :)). I find that AirTel is good in the service providers list. When i put it into categorical class, i find its service not bad. That is fine too. But, their internet plans are a bit expensive. But, the positive side there is that if we cross the limit of 1gB or something like that, then the money for each kB after that will just be a single paise which is nearly nothing for an average business man who plonk before the internet for hours and hours. So, i think a business man can got for it. There are many business plans offered by BSNL for some 4000 INR. But if we compare this plan and that of the AirTel's plan i find Airtel's the better one. Because the cost you have got to pay for the space used is less in case of AirTel's plan. But, when it comes to speed BSNL is better. But, i hope that you won't need a speed above 100 Mbps. You know what? Even the 250 INR plan from BSNL can provide that speed from my observations.

Now, another connection which has come into the scene is the USB modem which is commendable and which has got entrenched in the modern web world. I think using it is a mere foolery because there you have to pay more for a very little connection speed. But, using Ide! plug and play is appreciated. That is good.
So, pare down the options before you make a good choice. it is better that you think over this and then go for the better plan. I think that if you are a programmer or something like that, then you should go for the best option ever. So, i think that opting an Airtel plan is better. The speed provided by Airtel and its cost efficiency makes it good.
Another option is the plans provided by BSNL business about which i had specified earlier. It is an unlimited plan if you use it for many downloads and such things. But, in the other cases the other one is better. So, guys make the best option and then upgrade your internet connection.

You may be hankering to call for free, SMS for free, surf the internet for free and everything in this world for free so that you can be different in this recession racked community. I think that you may be craving to get such services so that you can get something out of your salary keeping away the expenses. Something into your bucks. You might have tried googling a number of times. The keywords you might have used are here: "Efficient management tips, Economic management tips". Of course. A consumer should make the right choice everytime. Go for the "needs". Do not show off. It is mean to move our tail as per your friend's vallips. It is too mean. It is something horrible. I get hacked off when people do that. I don't like such people indeed. I am a simple, humble guy. The only area where i can tell that i am perfect- From my point of view. I dunno what you guys will think. Now, you will tell that i am boasting. LoL :) I don't mind what you tell. But, i know that inside i am a hardcore simple guy!

Well, today i am gonna talk about some new apps and the internet browsers which have made browsing safer and more easier. The apps i am talking about will be something-just something, about the mobile apps, like Android etc. Well, lemme get on to the thing. I know that most of you are confused while paring down the options to choose the right internet browser. Most probably, i can find the computer engineers are confused. They use one browser in the office PC, another one in their laptop and then another one in the desktop at home. They are indifferent. But for them they are different. Let us take the matter of the performance. If they use Mozilla Firefox 3.5 in their laptop and then use Safari from their office PC they will get irritated because the functionalities are different and also, Safari is slow. I don't like it. It is just crap. But, try using the all new Internet Explorer and the Mozilla Firefox 3.5 and be sure that we will feel the difference. Ease of navigation and its user friendliness makes it more handy. Yep! I like it. But there are some others. But, no one uses them. Mostly considered to be used for WML pages. For nothing else. So one in a million uses Opera. Out of this we are confused in choosing the right one and in making the right option. That is the problem that every human faces. That is normal and you have got to face it. LoL! :) The problem is getting more bigger that it bothers you very much. You get irritated. Well, here are some features offered by the best of best browsers. I am talking about Mozilla Firefox 3.5. I know that the browser your are browsing from will be this one. Or else go and download it. If you don't get it from their website go and get if from the torrents. It is lovely. Go for it! Well, what takes my interest into this alone. I don't usually stick into any other browsers other than this. There is no answer other than this: "Performance is pucca 100% superb". I like the performance of Mozilla Firefox. It can increase your speed by 4x which no other browsers offer. Many browsers claim this but i don't find them there when i use them.

Then about playing videos. I try playing videos in many browsers when i download them. And when i view those videos in newly installed ones i find that the videos won't run here. But i can do this without installing the latest Adobe Flash Player into my system. That makes Mozilla different. Then, there are thousands of add-ons available to make your Mozilla Firefox perfect. If your Mozilla has crashed it retains the pages the next time to logs in to your PC. You know what? Mozilla is fabulous.

I think that you guys might have heard about Phishing and Pharming. Phishing is a way to hack into profiles illegally. I wonder why the bad guys do this. Just stinks! I think that this is not a good job to undertake. This process involves creation of a fake web page with a layout similar to that of the original webpage with the location and URL, the same one. SUch pages contain a text area where you can enter your username and password and you hit enter. If you do that, be sure, you are HACKED!!! So this is hacking and the method better called Phishing.
You wil be directwed to Phishing websites when Pharming mails are send to your inbox. Pharming mails can be alerts or warnings mentioning that you should use their page to access the account of a website. Such Pharming mails are often used to sneak out the security codes to access credit cards if you are an E-Banker with a considerable bank balance.

Staying away from Social Networks-Ooooooh!

Its something disgusting to keep away from the social networks. I had the same experience when i had my board exams. All my friends stood still on my radio silence. It was something awful to know that a ready-for-a-pitched-battle member had kicked the bucket. But see, i feel that all these social networks will have an adverse effect on us. As stated by the neuro surgeons it causes a long lasting brain disorder whpse name i know not. Why should i bother about that when my interests do not vest in those fields? Anywayz, got through a medical report of a patient who was strictly addicted to these social networks. When i stood away from the networks i felt that it was something to fool around. Do guys have the same opinion? Maybe, anyone of you! But still i love all social networks. I love Orkut more. I dunno why. Explain the reason! LoL! I cant supress my urge to know what is the reason behind me trying to get into the networks. A member clipped into social networks cannot find himself suspending the network unless and until he reach the age of atleast 40's. But now, when relations get broken it is infact a pleasure though mere to while away our time tweeting and Orkutting.

It is indeed disgusting. I am not talking about the whole thing of making money online. But i am talking about the ways and means to earn through the so called InterNet. Something commendable indeed. Anyone who plan to make money online through paid emails, surveys, selling something online etc are indeed punked because it is a childs play for the site owners to get money from you and punk you later. This is not the case in some jobs. Because data entry job is different. They dont ask for any investment from us. Without that they offer some data entry works which we can take up. When we complete the whole gig, you will know that they are not gonna pay you out!
Thats too funny! So guys, thats data entry.

Now, lemme tell something about some other working methods to make money online. But this is something hard and you will have a tough time doing the work. Well, I heard about something called search engine optimization from eWorld. International Cyber Crime Group now charged...!

Eleven people including three U.S citizens were charged for hacking and theft. The crime involved stealing of credit and debit card money online through many banking websites. Many surveys related to this proved that online banking would not prove beneficial in the recent years. It was also reported that many softwares were released containing the back account numbers and most of them contains their passwords too. That seems something interesting na? So lemme tell you that do not try online banking. Even in some websites which requires you to make donation via PayPal may contain hackers!

A 16-year-old has been charged in New Zealand with running an online scam and defrauding people of some $50,000. The teenager, who has a long criminal history, has been sent to a secure facility while awaiting trial, where he could face a five-year jail sentence.

It is believed he learned his computer skills while attending a special training course, which the police sent him on in the belief that it would help his personal development. He then used his parents’ computer to post spyware on a message board, infiltrating his victims’ computers and stealing personal data. He then used these details to milk people’s bank accounts for money, stealing a total of about $50,000, while the largest single theft was of $6,323. Even though only $15,000 has been recovered so far, all the affected banks in New Zealand have agreed to pay back the money to their customers.

Hot virus removal is here....!

Hey guys! Do you want to remove ordinary computer viruses without using any of the latest anti-virus softwares. For this what you need to do is just to follow these instructions.
First open Command Prompt. The task we are gonna undertake should be and can be completed only through CMD.
There type in the path name of the folder which should be searched for viruses.
For example, if you wanna search viruses in StarUp the path name to that folder will be C:\Documents and Setting\Programs\StartUp(This is just a mock).
Then in CMD type it as cd\Documents and Setting\Programs\StartUp
Note that we should avoid the drive name here.
After that type in dir\ah.
You will get a list of files which may or may not e viruses but anyway will be the hidden folders and those files could not be viewed even you enable to view the hidden folders option in the View menu.
Then type in attrib -s -h -r filename_with_extension
This will display the folder which was earlier hidden.Go to the folder now and delete it. When you wanna scan the drive in which your XP is stored then you may face some difficulties because it contains and displays some vital files required by XP.

You can try this out but not in the drive in which you have the XP files stored it may harm it.

Increase Broadband Speed...

This is for broad band connections, though it might work for dial up.

Make sure your logged on as actually “Administrator”.
Start->Run->type gpedit.msc
Expand the “Local Computer Policy” branch.
Expand the “Administrative Templates” branch.
Expand the “Network Branch”.
Highlight the “QoS Packet Scheduler” in left window.
In right window double-click the “Limit Reservable Bandwidth” setting.
On setting tab check the “Enabled” item.
Where it says “Bandwidth limit %” change it to read 0.

Effect is immediate on some systems, some need to re-boot. This is more of a “counter what XP does” thing. In other words, programs can request up to 20% of the bandwidth be reserved for them, even with QoS disabled.

20 ways to increase PC perfomance...

Since defragging the disk won't do much to improve Windows XP performance, here are 23 suggestions that will. Each can enhance the performance and reliability of your customers' PCs. Best of all, most of them will cost you nothing.

1.) To decrease a system's boot time and increase system performance, use the money you save by not buying defragmentation software -- the built-in Windows defragmenter works just fine -- and instead equip the computer with an Ultra-133 or Serial ATA hard drive with 8-MB cache buffer.

2.) If a PC has less than 512 MB of RAM, add more memory. This is a relatively inexpensive and easy upgrade that can dramatically improve system performance.

3.) Ensure that Windows XP is utilizing the NTFS file system. If you're not sure, here's how to check: First, double-click the My Computer icon, right-click on the C: Drive, then select Properties. Next, examine the File System type; if it says FAT32, then back-up any important data. Next, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the prompt, type CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS and press the Enter key. This process may take a while; it's important that the computer be uninterrupted and virus-free. The file system used by the bootable drive will be either FAT32 or NTFS. I highly recommend NTFS for its superior security, reliability, and efficiency with larger disk drives.

4.) Disable file indexing. The indexing service extracts information from documents and other files on the hard drive and creates a "searchable keyword index." As you can imagine, this process can be quite taxing on any system.

The idea is that the user can search for a word, phrase, or property inside a document, should they have hundreds or thousands of documents and not know the file name of the document they want. Windows XP's built-in search functionality can still perform these kinds of searches without the Indexing service. It just takes longer. The OS has to open each file at the time of the request to help find what the user is looking for.

Most people never need this feature of search. Those who do are typically in a large corporate environment where thousands of documents are located on at least one server. But if you're a typical system builder, most of your clients are small and medium businesses. And if your clients have no need for this search feature, I recommend disabling it.

Here's how: First, double-click the My Computer icon. Next, right-click on the C: Drive, then select Properties. Uncheck "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching." Next, apply changes to "C: subfolders and files," and click OK. If a warning or error message appears (such as "Access is denied"), click the Ignore All button.

5.) Update the PC's video and motherboard chipset drivers. Also, update and configure the BIOS. For more information on how to configure your BIOS properly, see this article on my site.

6.) Empty the Windows Prefetch folder every three months or so. Windows XP can "prefetch" portions of data and applications that are used frequently. This makes processes appear to load faster when called upon by the user. That's fine. But over time, the prefetch folder may become overloaded with references to files and applications no longer in use. When that happens, Windows XP is wasting time, and slowing system performance, by pre-loading them. Nothing critical is in this folder, and the entire contents are safe to delete.

7.) Once a month, run a disk cleanup. Here's how: Double-click the My Computer icon. Then right-click on the C: drive and select Properties. Click the Disk Cleanup button -- it's just to the right of the Capacity pie graph -- and delete all temporary files.

8.) In your Device Manager, double-click on the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers device, and ensure that DMA is enabled for each drive you have connected to the Primary and Secondary controller. Do this by double-clicking on Primary IDE Channel. Then click the Advanced Settings tab. Ensure the Transfer Mode is set to "DMA if available" for both Device 0 and Device 1. Then repeat this process with the Secondary IDE Channel.

9.) Upgrade the cabling. As hard-drive technology improves, the cabling requirements to achieve these performance boosts have become more stringent. Be sure to use 80-wire Ultra-133 cables on all of your IDE devices with the connectors properly assigned to the matching Master/Slave/Motherboard sockets. A single device must be at the end of the cable; connecting a single drive to the middle connector on a ribbon cable will cause signaling problems. With Ultra DMA hard drives, these signaling problems will prevent the drive from performing at its maximum potential. Also, because these cables inherently support "cable select," the location of each drive on the cable is important. For these reasons, the cable is designed so drive positioning is explicitly clear.

10.) Remove all spyware from the computer. Use free programs such as AdAware by Lavasoft or SpyBot Search & Destroy. Once these programs are installed, be sure to check for and download any updates before starting your search. Anything either program finds can be safely removed. Any free software that requires spyware to run will no longer function once the spyware portion has been removed; if your customer really wants the program even though it contains spyware, simply reinstall it. 11.) Remove any unnecessary programs and/or items from Windows Startup routine using the MSCONFIG utility. Here's how: First, click Start, click Run, type MSCONFIG, and click OK. Click the StartUp tab, then uncheck any items you don't want to start when Windows starts. Unsure what some items are? Visit the WinTasks Process Library. It contains known system processes, applications, as well as spyware references and explanations. Or quickly identify them by searching for the filenames using Google or another Web search engine.

12.) Remove any unnecessary or unused programs from the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel.

13.) Turn off any and all unnecessary animations, and disable active desktop. In fact, for optimal performance, turn off all animations. Windows XP offers many different settings in this area. Here's how to do it: First click on the System icon in the Control Panel. Next, click on the Advanced tab. Select the Settings button located under Performance. Feel free to play around with the options offered here, as nothing you can change will alter the reliability of the computer -- only its responsiveness.

14.) If your customer is an advanced user who is comfortable editing their registry, try some of the performance registry tweaks offered at Tweak XP.

15.) Visit Microsoft's Windows update site regularly, and download all updates labeled Critical. Download any optional updates at your discretion.

16.) Update the customer's anti-virus software on a weekly, even daily, basis. Make sure they have only one anti-virus software package installed. Mixing anti-virus software is a sure way to spell disaster for performance and reliability.

17.) Make sure the customer has fewer than 500 type fonts installed on their computer. The more fonts they have, the slower the system will become. While Windows XP handles fonts much more efficiently than did the previous versions of Windows, too many fonts -- that is, anything over 500 -- will noticeably tax the system.

18.) Do not partition the hard drive. Windows XP's NTFS file system runs more efficiently on one large partition. The data is no safer on a separate partition, and a reformat is never necessary to reinstall an operating system. The same excuses people offer for using partitions apply to using a folder instead. For example, instead of putting all your data on the D: drive, put it in a folder called "D drive." You'll achieve the same organizational benefits that a separate partition offers, but without the degradation in system performance. Also, your free space won't be limited by the size of the partition; instead, it will be limited by the size of the entire hard drive. This means you won't need to resize any partitions, ever. That task can be time-consuming and also can result in lost data.

19.) Check the system's RAM to ensure it is operating properly. I recommend using a free program called MemTest86. The download will make a bootable CD or diskette (your choice), which will run 10 extensive tests on the PC's memory automatically after you boot to the disk you created. Allow all tests to run until at least three passes of the 10 tests are completed. If the program encounters any errors, turn off and unplug the computer, remove a stick of memory (assuming you have more than one), and run the test again. Remember, bad memory cannot be repaired, but only replaced.

20.) If the PC has a CD or DVD recorder, check the drive manufacturer's Web site for updated firmware. In some cases you'll be able to upgrade the recorder to a faster speed. Best of all, it's free.

Hackers eye MySpace users...

MySpace users! Beware of illegal hackers in to your profile...
HACKERS are targeting users of social networking website MySpace using techniques popular with phishing scams. Mass emails sent to MySpace members would contain invitations to add the sender as a friend. When a link in the email is accessed, what seems to be an official MySpace page appears. The user is then asked to download and install the latest version of Adobe’s Flash Player software, which is required to run many of the applications on MySpace. However, the whole exercise is actually a scam, security experts say. Once the program is installed it would allow hackers to remotely take control of the computer, and use to victims PC to distribute more spam.

The attack was first detected by security software company Marshall Software on Wednesday morning in its New Zealand test lab.

Marshall Software vice president (Product) Bradley Anstis said this could be the precursor to more advanced and malicious attacks.

“Once you’ve got the client installed on someone’s machine, because it’s (malware), they have the ability to remotely control that application.

Firefox spoofing flaw reported...

Mozilla’s Firefox web browser is vulnerable to spoofing attacks, according to an Israeli security researcher. Aviv Raff reported on his blog on Wednesday that Mozilla Firefox v2.0.0.11 allows information presented in a basic authentication dialogue box to be spoofed, opening up the possibility of users being redirected to a malicious website. Earlier versions of the browser may also be affected.

According to Raff, when a web server returns a 401 status code, it causes Firefox to display an authentication dialogue box. The 401 status code is returned by the web server when it recognises that the HTTP data stream sent by a browser or bot is correct, but access to the URL requires further user authentication.

The authentication dialogue box displays the server URL in what is called the WWW-Authenticate header field. This URL is in part defined by the realm value and, according to Raff, it is possible for an attacker to create a specially crafted realm value that will look as if the authentication dialogue came from a trusted website. This is due to Firefox failing to sanitise single quotes and spaces in the WWW-Authenticate header field, after a legitimate realm value enclosed in double quotes has been given.
